The Overworld is the main dimension of Minecraft, and is where all the Nations of Elgeis are located. Currently, the server is limited by the world border that sits ±3000 blocks from the coordinate (0, 0). This leaves the total area of the Overworld at 36 km². The world spawn where all new players spawn is located at around (-252, 111).

Description

The Overworld contains many biomes, ranging from arid deserts to fertile plains. The northern half of the map contains the majority of the world's landmass, with very diverse biomes and countless rivers meandering through the landscape. The southern half is dominated by the sea, with various islands and smaller continents here and there, especially towards the center of the map.

The players that inhabit the Overworld have names for some of the geographic regions. Some of them are used frequently while others are only mentioned once. These names include, but are not limited to:

  • Allagarta
  • The Bay of Silangan
  • The Big Sche River
  • Dwarf Island
  • The Glacial Sea/Binghai
  • Goatwear Island
  • The Great Mesa
  • The Little Sche River
  • Japanese Island
  • The Sen River
  • The Slightly Larger Than a Normal Lake Fjall
  • The Strait of Jacksonia
  • The Strait of Polg
  • The Tierra del Fuego
  • The Togoman Mountains
  • The West Sea
  • The Highlands

Countries

The Overworld consists of many countries, each coming with its own unique culture and government. This is shown below on the server's political map, which is updated semi-regularly by the players themselves and pinned in the Elgeis Discord's #political-discussion channel.

Currently, the Overworld is home to 27 countries.

Explanations of government types:

  • Single-person: All decisions affecting the whole country are made by the one person who lives in the country. While this person may govern the country differently from other single-person countries, the fact remains that the country is necessarily governed entirely by their whims, with no one else to speak of being excluded or included in governmend.
  • Autocracy: Most decisions affecting the whole country are made by one person.
  • Diarchy: Most decisions affecting the whole country are made by two individuals who share autocratic power, usually by consensus among themselves.
  • Oligarchy: Most decisions affecting the whole country are made by a group of individuals, while other citizens are disenfranchised. Often similar to republics, except representatives in republics have to represent other citizens.
  • Republic: Most decisions affecting the whole country are made by representatives who represent different regions or other divisions of the country. They may be appointed or elected.
  • Democracy: Most decisions affecting the whole country are made by equal voting. All citizens must be given the opportunity to vote in order for a country to be a democracy, otherwise it is an oligarchy.
  • Mixed: Most decisions affecting the whole country are split between two different decision-making bodies, such as domestic policy being determined autocratically while international relations are voted on democratically.

Note: These classifications are very general and necessarily ignore quite a bit of nuance as to how each country is run. Please visit their respective wiki pages and/or ask around if you want to get a full idea of each country's government.
