Overview
Caracalistan (formerly Ozai) is a nation in the south-western area of Elgeis by the World Border, led by its founder, WorkablePuffin. It is surrounded by the Greater Ice Fields to the south and east and the Wilderness to the north. They worship a caracal called "Big Floppa".
History
Founding
Caracalistan was founded as Ozai on February 14, 2020, by WorkablePuffin. The land that the current capital is located in was discovered when he went north from the old lands of the Deathwatch and discovered the greater ice fields. A location near the world border and these ice fields was chosen as the capital, with the northern island and the Ozan Peninsula to be larger subsidiaries of the nation.
Land Dispute with Yanshu
Soon after the founding and claiming of the Ozan nation, it was discovered that the Yanshu had a claim to a portion of the Ozan Peninsula called the Yug. Ozai temporarily ceded the land while it bided its time, and by this time the second member of Ozai, Echitz1, had arrived. Ozai received military assistance from Sylvia, Schevakia, and Fianna, and moved into the Yug. The Yanshu promptly surrendered the land to the Ozai, and withdrew all claims and assets from the area. The conflict was bloodless and lasted less than a day, and took place on February 15, 2020.
Conflict with PizzasWithBone
PizzasWithBone, of the Deathwatch, expressed desire to raid and destroy Ozai territory and assets. Members of the Ozan Marine Corps and Engineers promptly struck his known home, and eliminated the surrounding area. Shortly after, a member of Sylvia gave them the location of the man himself. The two men quickly went to the man's residence, which Pizzas was trapped inside of. Pizzas then attempted to kill himself, and was kept alive for a short amount of time until he was brutally murdered.
Emergence of Floppaism
On November 4th, 2020, WorkablePuffin declared that "CARACALISTAN HAS BEEN FOUNDED. BUILT UPON THE ASHES OF OZAI. WE WORSHIP THE CARACAL AND BUILD COOL STUFF." The nation then took on its new name and adopted Floppaism as their state religion, revering a cat known as Big Floppa.
War with Jugoslavija
Main article: Jugoslav-Caracali War
In late November 2020, Jugoslavija and Caracalistan had a dispute over a NELT line used by Jugoslavija that Caracalistan had blocked. Although the conflict initially appeared to be resolved, the Caracali didn't completely fix the NELT, and tensions reflared after diplomatic pressure from Jugoslavs increased and an anonymous leak claimed Caracalistan was preparing for invading Jugoslavija. The Caracalistan government refuted these allegations and claimed them a provocation from the enemy, using it as a justification to conduct a griefing spree in Jugoslavija. A war-weary population in Caracalistan would then proclaim independance as the nation Vastilis, and the rest of Caracalistan would slowly merge with it, marking the end of the nation.
Government
Ozai was a direct democracy with an acting head of state to regulate affairs and serve as a figurehead. The title of the head of state was the Merchant Regulator. Not much is known about the government structure of Caracalistan, but the current head of state is WorkablePuffin.
Military in Ozan Times
Organization
Ozai's military was divided into three branches: the Ozan Air Corps, who specialized in Elytra combat; the Ozan Marine Corps, who specialized in ground combat; and the Ozan Engineers, who specialized in construction of redstone devices and fortifications.
Ozan Air Corps
The OAC was the air combat wing of Ozai, and specialized in rapid infil and exfiltration behind hostile fortifications and established lines. They were equipped with standard equipment, but Elytra in lieu of a combat vest and fireworks in addition to their normal kit.
Ozan Marine Corps
The OMC was the main ground force of Ozai. They were equipped with standard equipment and were usually the first and last to be deployed to combat zones. They were usually equipped with heavily enchanted diamond armor and tools in order to be an effective force on the front line.
Ozan Engineers
The OE were a small group of engineers that allowed Ozai to construct devices such as TNT cannons, and larger fortifications such as bunkers. They were usually outfitted with building materials, and rarely, if ever, saw combat.
