Planning

In Fianna, long long ago there was a time when Derek's Terrace was not in place and there was a wild untamed section across a gap. When it was decided that a flattened area was to be built across this gap, some way of crossing it was brought up for discussion. Dozens of ideas were brought to the table:

  • Minecart?
  • Water Slide?
  • Tunnel?
  • Secret Tunnel?
  • Just Jump?
  • Rope Swing?
  • Tire Swing?
  • TNT Launch Pad?
  • Piston Machine?
  • A series of animals on leads that one would mount in succession to cross the gap?

After much deliberation and thought, it was decided that a bridge should be put in place as the simplest, easiest to use, and most cost effective option. The materials were then put into consideration, what was available? what was best suited? most durable? Oak wood and fence posts were the perfect materials that fit those denominations. The deliberation ended with this and the actual construction was put in the hands of Doctor Hound.

Construction and Naming

The good Doctor surveyed the land in front of him, with quick and perceiving eyes he determined where the start and end should go to best ease the crossing. The materials were already gathered by the citizens and in a short day (in game) he placed it in all its magnificence.

Destruction

Circa Mid-January of 2020, ghost092599 discovered that nearly every building and piece of infrastructure on Fianna had been griefed by an unknown actor. Among most of the buildings on Derek's Terrace, the Joe LaPorte bridge was found to be nearly entirely destroyed. This incident led to the Fenian-Nyanian war, in which the Kingdom of Fianna besieged the Nyanians and forced them to disband.

Reconstruction

Currently, the Joe LaPorte bridge remains destroyed. There are plans to rebuild most of the structures demolished in the griefing, once the rubble has cleared.
